Make sure you change the water BEFORE you add the meds and salt..Very important....

3. Pick up some all-in-one or use some Copper Safe if not available.

Copper Safe will only do part of the job of All-In-One. You will still want to add an anti-bacterial medication with the Copper Safe.

Copper Safe = kills external parasites only
anti-bacterial med = treats external bacterial infections and some internal infections (if caught early enough).

Change the water with 25% RO....Add half of that amount of salt 2x, 8 hours a part between doses to get the whole dose, get the all in one...Skip the LFS tests if you use API, and steps 4 and 5 are accurate:D and do not feed for a week or so.....Good luck, I hope the rest of your stock makes it....This is a great reason to ALWAYS have a hospital;) Meds and salt require smaller doses in smaller tanks....

I do have a hospital tank that could accommodate my aro and polypterus, would you recommend that i move them and then just break down the tank and start from scratch?

Nah....I mean you could...Just break down refill and seed with established healthy bio media...But in this situation, I do not think that will be necessary. Remove any fish that looks as if it "needs some help" and use the hospital just for those..Leave the healthy ones be...

great, thanks alot for your help.

Update:
Did what I could today. Another waterchange, could not find RO water around me so I have to continue looking for tomorrow. Added salt and water treatments to seperate water container before adding water to the tank, got additional heavy aeration.
Aro is on his way out, starting to do the death roll. Polypterus looks OK, I am going to go shopping again tomorrow, have the water tested and try to get the tank balanced again.
Checked for any foreign objects in the tank but found none.

RO can be had at any grocery store..Where they keep drinking water. Distilled will break it up too....TBH by the sounds of it, the tank started to cycle on you....Death roll tells me ammonia is present...

No ammonia. Its not a full blown death roll, the aro's spine looks slightly curved in the middle, and now he is just trying to get up back to the top layer and swim around i guess, but then he falls to the bottom listless. He's been doing it for quite some time, feel bad euthanizing but its probably the right thing to do.
TBH? And the tank cycled on me? Please explain....

Thanks

Look up 'Air Bladder Disease' and pay attention to your symptoms and the mention of 'internal bacterial infection'. You've already started the medication, right?
