You need to "black out" the tank. Feed the fish real good today and then cover it with a big blanket or anything that will black it out as close to 100% as you can get. Do this for a week and do not remove the blanket for anything. Do not even peak for a second. The fish will not need to be fed for a week. They will be absolutely fine. When you uncover the tank do a 50% water change and enjoy your new clear water :)

.......Read it this time :)

An ac100 on a 29 gallon tank.....at least the fish will be in great shape from fighting the current.....

Look...you'll need WAY differant filtration for a 180 than you do on a 29.

The topfin is actully a wisper filter...about as far down the filtration food chain as you can get.

Pick up an AC 70...run them both for a while then scrap the topfin. Your right by the way topfin/wisper bags are almost impossible to rinse more than once...they fall appart.
anyway...run them together for a month to get the ac 70 established and then put the topfin on the 20 along with the other one. You DON'T have to buy pads or cartrages for an Aquaclear by the way....just clean the sponge when needed.

I didn't know the exact size of your tanks when I recomended the E400...thats WAY too big for a 29....just like the AC110.

I missed the 29 gallon thing all together. I thought we were talking about a tank that was housing a jar now...Yeah Wolfy is right. Ac 70 will do you just fine. An ac 50 is probably a better fit still for that tank size....:)

I have a 70 on my 29 gallon breeder and two 50's on a lightly stocked 20 (don't ask me why...) anyway they work great and I rarely ever have to clean them out. Those are my only remaining Aquaclears. I've converted everything else over to Fluval cans....hydro5's and Emporers.

i take like 30 sec peeks into my tank everyday and the water hasnt turned green but its cloudy like mist in the air. should i keep it blacked out for another week?

Uncover it for a day, feed your fish, do a 50 percent water change and leave it blacked out for a few more days. Clean the gravel real good also.
