tank dilema - which tank to buy?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would have to go with the taller one as well. I think the extra height would be the winner and I think if you paint or tint the back window you wouldnt even really notice the algae. Bigger is always better, all the time :headbang2:ROFL:

Whatever you go with get some pics up when you fishish that bad boy.

Look at it this way. You can always clean the algae. Once you buy the tank no physical modifications can be made. That makes the choice rather easy for me!!!
+ get your heater!!!!!

I just got a tank that is 72x18x27 so they could be twins. Mine's used and will have a different stock but still. Also, I tend to stray away from the taller tanks, I think that it makes it seem like the fish have less space. I know that it's actually more water with the taller one, but I think that the shorter one will actually look like the fish have more room.

another vote for the clear + extra height tank

just control your lighting if the tank is not planted

hello all. okay, here is the deal. I am a first time new home owner, and will now have the space to ugrade from a 90 gallon to a 6 footer. Because cash is tight right now (big downpayment:eek:) I will be going for a brand new 150 gallon tank (as opposed to a 180/220). the extra width comes at quite a leap in price - and I am not interested in buying a used tank on something that big.

Now, here is the issue I am trying to decide (and I keep flipping back and forth lol).

The real issue is your not getting the 180/220. Wait till you can get enough money to buy a tank you really want that way you won't have any regrets.

Before you decide on which tank to buy, I would suggest you go and check Craiglist in your area. I've seen 180 gallon tanks in my area for like 500 usd.
Just a thought because I seen that sticker price from your pic and that is real pricey.
