got the metal tube stand today. Mom came by my new house and flipped LOL

I guess she thinks that even the 90 I had was too big.. :)

and I don't even have the tank yet LOL

yeah i know how that is when i got my 55 my mom fliped and thought it was big but then when i brought the 210 home my mom was like wat the f*** and wanted to kick me and my dad out

When I got my 150 for my 2nd floor apartment, and friends/parents saw it they freaked.

I also freaked, and the first few days I was like HOLY S*** what did I do!

After a while though you get use to the size.

I plan on another 150 in the future against another load bearing wall in my 2nd floor apartment.

I live on the 2nd floor CORNER apartment with 2-bedrooms, each with load bearing walls.

I would love to have 3, 150-gallons someday, one in each bedroom, and the one I currently have.

But in the middle of jobs right now, so this will be a LONG ways off.

I bet the person that helped you carry up the 280 pound tank must have been freaking out even more! :)

I was hoping to have a 150 tall (48x24x30) one day as well.

having two 150's in different configurations I think would be awesome!!

but thats way down the road..

I think there are even 5 foot 150s lol. 1 of each! 4x2 150s look massive though. There was one at petsmart next to the 125; it dwarfed it despite only being slightly more gallons.

Would never get a 150 TALL, I would much rather have the extra long swimming space, vers width, but thats prob because of the type of fish I would be keeping.

Still stuck with my 45-gallon AllGlass, I only purchased it at the time because it was the largest as far as gallons I could fit in the space I had for the tank.

I would trade it anyday for a 40-gallon AllGlass long.

see, the thing is, all I am getting is tank, metal stand, glass top and one extra heater.

I have two XP3's and an AC110 to run and I have lights.

so I won't be spending $1200. not even close. I figure with store credit it won't be too bad.

the thing is, at this store I used to work there for a long time, so I can get a better deal than the listed price. I support them, worked hard for them for a long time, and they help me out. it works good :)

the more I think about it though, I really can't justify the extra price for the 180/220. its more than a monthly car payment, Which, when I am moved out, every dollar will help. I want a bigger tank bad and I don't want to wait the extra time to save up the extra cash :)

I am used to a 90, so a 150 is a pretty big jump up IMO.

I do love the little bit of extra height on the 150's. it makes it look extra big, above and beyond normal 24" tall tanks.

thanks for all the replies so far!

I agree with you 100 percent on the choice of the slightly smaller tank. The bigger ones are not worth the difference IMO. I would definately go with the clear silicone, but I have never had issues with algae on my silicone. The main reason why I haven't had problems with algae is that I don't remove the chlorine from the water. I do this for maintenance reasons and never have lost a fish. If I do a massive water change I will dechlorinate, but for 30 percent water changes I don't use it.
