You know your almost done with a project when you've called in all your favors and there's no one left that can help you do the finish work. We decided to finish the wall flat with no texture. I guess its called a glass finish, I'm not for sure. Finishing drywall is an art form and I am not an artist. I've sanded off as much plaster as I've put on the wall. My oldest Daughter's fiance is going to paint a mural above the tank and a flat surface will make it easier for him.

I found a helper. It took some negotiation. I think I might have got the raw end. When she turns, 16 she gets to drive my cj5 jeep I've had since I was 22.
Mural sounds cool. You are more patient than I am though...I would tell him to paint it on a canvas so you don't have to wait for him to finish it before you fill. I bet you are itchin' to get Frank in there.
Sorry if I missed it, but are you planning on painting the back of the tank? A lot of people do that to give the tank a more finished look- clear backed tanks can give the fish kind of a washed out look- a solid back makes whatever's in the tank "pop."
Lots of guys on here will paint the exterior back panel of their tanks. They hit it with some sand paper to give the paint something to bite onto. For acrylic tanks, Krylon Fusion is the spray paint of choice (obviously just be sure to mask off the rest of the tank so you don't get any overspray in areas you don't want it).
I know you're probably thinking just another thing to spend money on, but I think you'll find that it makes a world of difference and it's cheaper than going with a fancy background.

I could not wait anymore either. I told him the same thing "paint it on a canvas". I painted the wall Cosmic blue by Vaspar. I did not wash the sand very well and now I have that sand haze for a few days.
Frank is a very Spoiled Pacu. Would you eat bitter greens, when you can have watermelon, grapes, carrots, flake food, pellets food, Brazil nuts, apples, oranges, bananas, corn, broccoli, or whatever steamed veggie that the family had that night?
I really thought I would have problems with him eating plants when I got him, but surprisingly the only thing he ever ate was this huge Anubis that took a long time to grow. that was only when we went on vacation and I had a non fish person look in on him. She only fed him fish food and none of the ziplock baggies in the fridge, that my wife had prepared and labelled for him each day.
We have fed him most every common veggie or fruit sold at the local store.
I mentioned he was spoiled right? LOL
Unfortunately, he was fed feeder fish before we got him, and some smaller fish turned up missing the first six months. Now he hardly notices smaller fish.
