Check out oscars, red bay snooks, chinese perch(hard to find), dats, smaller catfish, severum cichlids, silver dollars, etc. You still have alot of options just nothing that gets over 24".

then again, mabye, if I can learn a good deal about dats. How hard are they to care for? where do I get big ones (like 8-9 inchers) and oscars might be a good fish, but im not sure

theyre all really boring in my opinion. I want display fish, not dither fish. (except for oscars, which im looking into)

Those are all display type fish... People use silver dollars as dithers but honestly they're found more as display fish than anything else. I could use alot of different fish as dithers but that doesn't mean they're not found in displays and great looking fish in general.

Danio's and stuff like that are usually dithers and it depends on how you use that word as it's used two ways. To describe fish to distract aggression and the root of what it's supposed to be used for to describe fish that will bring shy fish out of hiding and make them more active.

A 8-9" dat will set you back a couple dollars. Infinate Aquatics had some NGT dats @7" on sale for 50.00 a peice. Might check and see if he still has any. But widebars and usually larger dats in general can get expensive becauseo of their slow growth rate. So maybe not the best choice for a starter but if you feel comfortable once you learn more about them then go ahead.

ok, notice that I deleted that post though, I acted too quickly

I still wanna see some pic's. Because i really dont beleive that parents of 2 kids that are 12 would spend atleast 1g on a tank and fish.

I'm really sorry for saying that buts thats just me.

what cichlids (other than oscars) could I put with the aro?

a jag, severums, parrots, pretty much any medium sized cichlid that isnt overly aggressive

waaaaaah, that means no dovii. I love doviis. I saw one at my lfs last week, and was going, "whos a good fish!" while the thing tryed to kill me.

do a group of 6-7 uaru they would look great with an aro and they are not agro at all. So you would not have to worry about them nipping the aros fins.
