I would say fish of similar size I have seen CKF, rays, and even pbass and some cichilds. But as with any combination its a matter of individual fish compatibility not species.

As long as you're upgrading eventually I see no problem with it. That mono if you buy small with be 18"+ in two years. So keep an eye on his growth because in two years both him and the arow could be getting cramped.
Oh and suggestion buy the dats as big as possible as they will be the slowest growing.
