Tat has a disease!!!! NEED HELP ASAP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys I just went back to the LFS I bought him at and they tested my water and everything was fine just my pH was a tad high, But they gave me the full 40.00 in credit I paid for him so I got them to order me 4 1" P bass to keep for awhile and put in my 150 with some dat's then I'll just sell em off after awhile.

Oh they still had two other Tats with the same disease at my LFS, I even asked what the blemishes were before I bought him and I was told they were just nip marks and I told the owner they sold me the Tat knowing it had a disease so I got full credit.

Yikes! If it's any consolation Hydrolycus is a difficult species to raise in captivity and many of us, including myself, have gone thru the exact same thing. The only thing I can say is - get back on the horse and Go Monster! Bigger tanks, more filtration, cleaner water, increasing dissolved oxygen, greater effort in feeding healthy foods - this will yeild the best results with Payara. It's not your fault if the tank was cycled and the fish was sick @ purchase. I am very sorry for your lose.

Agree with you. Payara is not that easy to keep. Their water requirements is considered high.

Sad for your loss. Try again with another pc.

I'm gonna try out some P bass for now which are some fish I've wanted to keep for awhile then I'll go back to my Payara when I'm ready to take the risk again, I think i'm a little out of tune with fish keeping right now because of the big move and I need to get back on the mood. Some baby P bass should warm me back up :D

P Bass??

55g?

Err....

Seriously.... And maybe down the road a 150? Now your really hitting my nerves. Cichla is a genus I specialize in. No full grown Cichla species should ever be put in a 150 much less a 55. These fish WILL die on you maybe not a week after you get them but they will. Why can't you get something that can lives it's life happily in a 55 and be done with it? There are plenty of really neat fish out there which will fit the bill.

So your saying that some 1" fish will die in a 55g after one week, How much you willing to put down on that because last time I remember they had 18 of them in a 10g for a month, Not trying to hit a nerve here but seriously, And no predatory fish that fits in my mind can live in a 55g accept for piranhas which is out of them question since I live in Florida where they are too stupid to let you get a damn permit :irked:

Ugh Jesus I really am starting to hate the hobby, OK how about a flagtail? Ace Falcatus? Falcistrosis? Brycon? Seriously I can't go a long time with an empty tank.
