If you want a characin you need at least 2x the fish's length for the tank. Brycons, ATF, falcirostris, raphs, scombs, tats etc are all claustrophobic fish who will either rub their face on the glass until they die or find a way to get through the lid at night if the tank isn't large enough.
It has already been discussed in the IDing sticky that adult tats need a 2' wide footprint. A standard 150 is not any bigger than a 75 gallon tank footprint wise, and if you do get a 150 wide you will be spending a fortune and the tank won't even be tall enough for the fish to strike it's food.
If you are worried about the cost of shipping a fish, you will be in for a big surprise when you plan to upgrade your tank.

Being in Florida must be tough with their illegal fish esp. since many species of Piranha can live their full lives in a 55 gal. Your the Payara Man go get a Scomb and keep it alive in your 55. After 16 mo. mine is still only 8" I'm starting to believe they aren't the large monsters ppl have catagorized them as in the past, the experience could pay dividends in the future when you get a larger tank and a shoal of Tats ot Aramatus - just food for thought at a lower price tag.
