I dream of the day i get away with oil changes that cheap. mind you, my new Mercedes uses faily standard oil...

If you do not have money to spend on shipping chances are you will not have enough for a tank suitable for the fish you want.

If you want a characin you need at least 2x the fish's length for the tank. Brycons, ATF, falcirostris, raphs, scombs, tats etc are all claustrophobic fish who will either rub their face on the glass until they die or find a way to get through the lid at night if the tank isn't large enough.

It has already been discussed in the IDing sticky that adult tats need a 2' wide footprint. A standard 150 is not any bigger than a 75 gallon tank footprint wise, and if you do get a 150 wide you will be spending a fortune and the tank won't even be tall enough for the fish to strike it's food.

If you are worried about the cost of shipping a fish, you will be in for a big surprise when you plan to upgrade your tank.

Craigslist is your friend, I've seen a full 200g setup for 135 bucks before, When I called someone had already bought it.

Craigslist is my friend as well - 180 full set up $300, 150XH full set up $300, 125 full set up $100 - great place to start when keeping fish. Being in Florida must be tough with their illegal fish esp. since many species of Piranha can live their full lives in a 55 gal. Your the Payara Man go get a Scomb and keep it alive in your 55. After 16 mo. mine is still only 8" I'm starting to believe they aren't the large monsters ppl have catagorized them as in the past, the experience could pay dividends in the future when you get a larger tank and a shoal of Tats ot Aramatus - just food for thought at a lower price tag.

Salt and mass water changes work wonders man keeping the water changed like 30% every 3 days will rid the disease as well as temp increase to quiken life span of the parisite but it sounds like youve already been told this...You got some guys that know what they are talken bout tryen to help ya man....reading through this thread i see now it;s all over the place:ROFL::ROFL:

My Scomb's tend to die a lot, But they are super cheap when my LFS gets them at 20 bucks each.
