TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS STORY

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I understand where you're coming from. I tend to agree with you.

But, then again, we, as fathers of the teen, would not be defending him ( after the fact ), but avenging him, no?

I would say that Lemonhead in his post hereabove summed it up perfectly.

Whether or not I'd take revenge would really be dependant on how old my son was - there comes a time where they just know better. The news article is really very vague.

In that sense, I think the father was in the right for knocking the kid upside the head.

I agree 99% with your last statment, except this one. The Father was wrong for putting his hands/weapon on the kid......

So you are going to bash every kid that has sex with your daughter just because you don't know about him first or he didn't shake your hand????

And for the record...I sneaked into my girlfriends house too...Or should I say my wife???:naughty:

Violence is violence....There is no place for violence. Even if he was in a war, hitting a human in such a tender spot, with such a weapon, is un-called for....Why not call the kids parents in the middle of the night for an emergency all family chat??? That would be my method;):D

:naughty: I'll bash the first kid - after that I'll start to question whether or not I did a good job raising my own kid and adjust their routine accordingly.

I'm fairly certain this guy's daughter isn't feeling to great about her dad being in jail because she let a boy sneak into her room...

I don't know where this war stuff came from - it doesn't say he's a Veteran or anything of the sort. I brought up the comment to show how being half asleep can affect a person's judgement.

Personally I sleep with a shotgun under my bed - this guy could have had a pipe or anything else. It's somewhat common sense depending on where you live (in my case, Los Angeles).

PTSD (which I have) and how it affects a person is a completely different subject from this, and has nothing to do with entitlement in the first place.

You are the one that said it could be an unknown factor...I am simply saying that even with that he is still wrong.

Jeesus, Bigspitz!! That would be the worst! If I was the teen i'd prefer the pipe than to have to cope with an all family chat at 4 am....

If I was the kid's father I would hit him with the pipe myself just to avoid having to attend such a conference:nilly:

why the reunion? its not as if they had a baby, is it??

Why not wait 'till morning?

Haha if a grown adult put stitches in my son's head I'd probably be serving a life sentence.

I raise my kid to have a bit more integrity than that, though - or at least I hope I am!

If that guys daughter has any respect for him she won't be having this boyfriend over to her house right now - while her dad is in jail because of her irresponsible actions.

While a pipe to the skull may not have been the most rationale action - at 4 in the morning when you're still fuzzy from waking up things take a different turn. There are actually laws that state you cannot be charged for murder if you kill a man within 15 seconds of waking up due to Vietnam Vets flipping out on their wives after bad dreams and from PTSD.

Like I said, there is a lot of stuff this article didn't bother going into. Nobody - including myself - should try to make assumptions about the history behind this kid, his girlfriend, and her father. I sincerely doubt most of us would have calmly said "OK, time to leave" in this situation, though. Had it been our daughter.

EDIT: As far as what the man was charged with - it's how our system works. You have to abide by the rules. But that still doesn't make the dad wrong for what he did. Had the judge just let him walk this case would be cited for future issue's with different circumstances. I still think he did the right thing.

War stuff....

The morning makes it more tolerable...3 am makes it a night to never forget;) Without a voice ever being raised.
