damn!

that picture with the gaps is the last side installed. Can i just cut the silicone off and redo just that side? or do i have to dismantel the entire thing?

Could it be possible to use steel framing? Like a bedframe with two cross beams.

The right way... tear it down, clean and redo it.

The other way (you do own your house right?) cut an inch lower then the bad spot and strip the rest of the way up and clean glass. Rough up the silicone a little (silicone doesn't adhere to itself but will stick a little better to the rough surface).

If this was your first project, consider tearing it all the way down and starting fresh and just consider this a practice run;)

Yas you can use a steel frame, but remember what I told amehel0. Your basically going to be siliconing the glass into the frame. Bed frames are a little wide but use what ya got. Properly primer and then seal with RustOleum paint.

Dude i don't think that thing is gonna hold. I'm building a 1000 gallon now and it's framed with over 65 10' 2x6's and 7 sheets of 3/4" birch with fiberglass. Im thing 1 1/2" acylic window on mine, just to be safe. (window is 3x8) Over kill is good! I wish you the best of luck! Just be careful.

well, I based the glass size of of garf.org...

I've removed the front panel and i'm going to clean it up and try it again.

I'm hesistant to start all over as pulling the glass off of the base will probably destroy the concrete/drylok...

looks like i'm going to have to postpone the test fill ;)

I'm going to make a frame for the top. Pretty much just wrap an L frame around it and tie them together front to back and side to side.

ok some people that post here really need to learn a bit and read a bit... its like some of you guys only read the first post and the lastone,

1/2" is sufficient for 30"tall, of corse he is going to frame it it... GE1 is the most popular sillicone for tanks, GE2 being also popular. and all you have to watch out for is it saying that it contains the fungiside it doesnt have to say that it doesnt contain it.

and like you said. take it apart. sillicone is chraper then the stress of trying to find a tank for your fish and bucket/towels...

that seam really doesnt like like it would last. with a good braveing it would hold, for a while but not long...

Just make sure to over do the bracing on the top. remember its the sillicone between the glass that holds it together not the sillicone in the corner.

Looks like its going to be BAD!!! let me guess... freshwater rays?

also since your doing it over again have you thought of useing black??? i mean to use it on every tank i make but i always seem to have clear laying around. i made one with black and it looks good... if you ever get ich it wont turn blue/green on you. also it lasts longer with a broud spectrume light...
