I have 1 male and 1 female texas cichlid alone in a 4 foot tank and the male won't stop trying to kill the female . They are divided at the moment and no matter how long I wait ( they've been divided for months ) he still tries to kill her . The water parameters and temp are all perfect . What can I do to help them pair up.
The next option is sadly selling the male due to his aggression.
Thank you. Jesse

Exactly as Dan said often it's not as easy as just having a male and female. Instinctively they choose the strongest partner to breed with. Apart from adding a few extra females to let him pick you could try temporarily adding a few target fish and see if that encourages him to 1. focus less on her and 2. realise she is a valuable commodity but keep the divider on standby.

yeah that is true , I thought that'd be the case , just hard to get my hands on 15cm and over texas cuchluds here haha . There two clown poached in the tank also so they kinda work as the dither

Just breed them through the divider. The fertilization rate may not be has high (at least that is my experience breeding in a divided tank) but you'll soon have more than you can deal with.

Big water changes and live foods can help stimulate breeding.
