Texas Cichlid, some pictures.

Ya know what....you're right. The first fish is Carpinte. Sorry for the misquote.

Here's picture of one of my Cyanaguttatus. I always look at the pearling. Color isn't always a good indicator...especially in photos. Color balance and other factors can really skew it one way or another.

After I read your response I looked at it again...then at one of mine...and it was obvious. Like I have said many times, I've been wrong before. Thanks for catching it.

See how photos can be deceiving....a very old photo I took before I switched to overhead lighting.

That's a good comparison mo. I should have been more specific about the color. The pearling on a tex tends to be grayish while those of a carpintis tend to be greenish blue. Thanks for sharing those pictures. That Rio salto is a beauty.

OMG...beautiful fish, all of them!!!!...:popcorn:

I have a male Carpintis... 5", and only 5-6 months old! That's what happens when you grow them in a 240, and they eat mainly shrimp! He's father to 2 spawns already with his 3" female!

Very nice, do you have female picts???? Post some.

Female looks the same.. just smaller and not such a high back.

They don't get shrimp anymore... They got moved from the 240 and now they are in a 150 with some others.. they get fed hikari sinking cichlid pellets, as well as OSI Blood Parrot pellets.. occasional algae wafers, shrimp pellets... what ever else I have on hand. Variety.

They were in my 240 with my rays, and that's why they got shrimp all the time.

Nice Texas you have. You guys in this thread seem to know a lot about Texas fish.
I have a carpintis, well what I think is a carpintis, can you help me out an identify weather this fish is a true carpintis fish and what sex it might be.

Thanks

I posted an answer in that therad mate. Your fish seems to be a hybrid as they have already told you. Just look at his head.

Anyway if you like it good!!! for at the end that's what it matters.

Cheers.
