I have not ordered from Joe yet but I probably soon will. I have also owned a couple of shops and there is a BIG difference between alfs and an outfit like Joe's. His price's look exceptional and you can't expect a week long guarantee.Your LFS has to maintain a storefront which adds to costs. It usually has other goods to help cover this but with a little higher fish cost you can have a longer guarantee.Its hard to have it both ways.Generally, low cost= shorter guarantee .Higher cost =longer guarantee.
Great people to order from. Got my rays both in great shape eating right away and very active. will be ordering again in the future.
My ray from TDF arrived fairly skinny (but still thick enough to ship relatively safely, IMO) but began eating later on the same night that he showed up. The ray did, however, have fish lice. Also, I ordered several different varieties of plants, and they all came in very nice condition. I have QT'd the plants for about a week and a half or so now, and there seem to be no problems with them so far, and they are growing beautifully.
The prices were right, but I am a bit sour because of the fairly large swarm of fish lice that were all over my ray, right out of the bag. All-in-all I would order from them again, but I would be careful not to buy any single very expensive fish, but would rather stick to a large purchase of many water plants / moderately expensive fish.

I, have worked for joe in the past, he does the best he can. Some fish live and some fish die, you know the way it is it is hard on a fish. They get sent off in a box all over the place. that is alot of stress on a fish. So you get what you get. Joe is a good man but not a dumb man.
My TFD experience was not so great. The fish are priced very well, I do have to give them that...BUT, out of 6 fish ordered, 4 are gone. I ordered 3 C. temensis, my friend got 3 C. monoculus, which were not monoculus but ocellaris. I lost two of the temensis within 3 days, they wouldn't eat, not even feeders and then died. My friend's two ocellaris got ich and died quickly. I probably wouldn't order from them again, but I guess you get what you pay for...cheap fish prices/shipping, questionable health.
... being from ohio they are a pain in the ass to deal with, because they wont sell to you unless you are nowhere near one of their LFS, or if you spend a boatload of money they may look the other way.
i guess he is trying to protect the LFS near me that "orders from them". but apparently the LFS doesnt care too much about TFD, because i have been asking them about p.bass for 2-3 months, and they keep telling me they cant get them. TFD has had them on the list for at least that long????
so i figured i would bypass the LFS, i found 3-5 people interested, rounded up about $500 worth of stock (plus whatever i would have added to the list once i got to look everything over in person), then called to see if i could drive 3 hours each way to pick the fish up. once i spoke to them he was very rude, and unfriendly on the phone and basically told me to get lost, and that he was too busy for my money
i am good friends with the manager at another local LFS who does not do business with them, and i was telling him about TFD's stock, and how great it was. i was trying to get him to get his company to see if they could order from TFD. after the phone conversation though, i called the manager and told him not to worry about it, i would rather they find someone else selling those fish
he has pretty good stock, and pretty good prices, but i will not deal with them ever again in the future
anyone who considers dealing with them over the internete should call and talk to them in person, and if you want your money going to someone like that, then so be it.

I just received my order from TFD. This is the second time that I have ordered from them and it went smooth just like before. The fish arrived in great shape and were a bit larger than expected. I even took a chance and had them sent priority mail across the country. I'd order from them again without worry.
