Weld On 4

http://www.ipscorp.com/assembly/acrylic

To fix the small crack/chip whatever you want to call it on the bottom panel that is dripping? It is small, maybe 2-3" and is a half circle that goes from the outside edge of the bottom panel to just inside the rear panel - so maybe 1/2" deep circle and 2-3" long. I planned on pouring a small amount of weld on on/in the crack. Then making a small puddle and placing the sheet I linked above over the crack and pressing hard. This should force the Weld On out toward the edges of the panel but not all the way, if I can get the amount right. Then inject Weld On into any voids left around the edges of the new sheet. Then on the outside rear I plan to Weld On another sheet over the visible area of the crack as well using the same method.

Is Weld on 4 ok? That is what Bobby gave me, I looked on the website and it seems ok.
Is the method I described ok?
Is that Acrylic I linked ok?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Bump for another stupid question, how do I open the can of Weld on? I took the lid off and there appears to be another inside. I had to leave because I was on my lunch break but it seemed kind of odd. Does that thing pop out?

And how do you apply it WITHOUT a Syringe? Is there any other way because I don't keep those handy.

Update.

First 2 pics are the crack.

3rd is the inside fix, a scrap piece of Acrylic from a broken hood. (There is water inside the tank in this pic)

4th is the outside fix, a scrap piece of Acrylic from the same broken hood.

- I didn't have a Syringe so I just brushed on the Weld On and pressed the pieces into place. Tank has a foot of water in it, it's holding well now. Can't go any higher without plumbing the over flows.

that thing is sweet, looks a little big for the kitchen, is it going to double as a table? lol my girlfriend won't even let me get anything bigger than a 55, i'm working on her though

Looking good. You know, you probably didn't even need the pieces of acrylic, but it sure is nice knowing that you have the extra making sure it seals well.

Looks good. Making better progress that I did. LOL

Eh, it could have been bigger. But it's nice I have plenty of room to walk behind and work on everything. I'm happy for now. But we never ate in there anyway so I decided to take advantage of that, lol. And it sounds like you need to work on your negotiation skills. :grinno:

Yea, it may have held without. The solvent likely went in and sealed it up before I even put the pieces on but I like having it there. :)

It's already draining again, I just wanted to get it sealed. Now it's time for Novus.

Awesome. This will look great once you get it polished. Makes me kinda regret getting rid of it. LOL

oooooo nice tank cant wait to see it when its stocked:D

Well I quickly buffed the inside and outside of 1/2 the front panel with Novus 3 then Novus 2. Only one application of each so far, probably do the other side then go over the entire panel another time or two. However just one application made quite the difference already. Can you tell which side I did?
