The government is not telling you to drive clean cars it's just making it more economic to do so. Bpags52 has a point with the feds not giving people incentives to buy stuff at all, arguable valid. You want a gas guzzling truck or sports car (and I sure as **** do, MB SL-class) then go buy one just don't expect help doing it.
The current belief is that less emmisions are better, if you feel that more emmisions are better for all involved then there isn't really much to be said. If the feds feel like handing out money then why not use it to stear towards better decsions.
