The Journey Begins..Oscars Growing Out

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL a couple of tricks enabled me to keep plants with my O...by combining LARGE plants and anchoring them under vines/boulders. Next trick is to have floating plants and suspended green vines making bridges. My O is constantly swimming through, around and under stuff. Some areas are open but he spends the majority of time under a canopy.
@triggered
I started their tank with fake plants and slowly replaced them and added real plants it's worked so far

Right, I forgot about how things are in AU. Seems that we have also now gone that route here in Canada.

Good luck.

RD i visited the local aquarium shop and no luck with the NLS hex-sheild it is still unable to be imported in to Aus...
I have soaked some black worm in "wormer plus" formula (had left over in cupboard from when i had discus) and fed to them i will do again in a few days and also soaking pellets in fresh garlic paste once a week.. hopefully this will do the trick...
The 2 skinny less active Os did definitely eat it and seem alot more active.. but uet to put on any more weight..

I am considering different tank mates-dither fish/ fish to clean up waste that the Os leave with their messy eating..
I know convicts and silver dollars are pretty common tank mates but i was thinking something like a trio of fire mouths... opinions please and am i best getting 1M 2F or 3M...? Any other suggestions welcome...

Why not just an interim tank mate? Yeah the gravel cleaner, or the Eheim battery operated vacuum...

If you are set on FM, then add more sand to the aquarium. They start to exihibit quite a bit of sand sifting with at least 1" amount of sand or really small silica (#20 mesh size or smaller).

It looks like the active ingredient is Flubendazole. Hopefully that clears your fish up, if not you may still need to seek out something that is metro based? For now, I would also soak the pellets in Epsom salt as per my sticky on the subject. For a 3% solution of Magnesium sulphate, add 1 level tablespoon (15 grams) magnesium sulphate to 500 milliliters of distilled water. Stir, and it's good to go.

You have to order it through the U.S. site and change delivery to Australia...it doesn't appear on Amazon.Au at all. Hope this helps.
Hi Finwin I did look at that but being a banned product here i would be risking it getting seized at customs and not recieving it and losing dollars spent on it.. ?‍♂️
