The Law of Supply & Demand doesnt work!!

There are so many vehicles on the road now in China it's scary as hell when traveling. I think they drive by a completely different set of rules! We have taken advantage of the cheap labor to keep our prices down and now all those people have a little more money in their pockets and are now driving. The pollution is terrible!! Unfortunalty I have to travel there so we can all have inexpensive computers. The 200mph mag lev train in Shanghai is cool though!

IMO- what we have to do is somehow get, china's government and other now devloping nations goverments to place restrictions on gas consuptions on family's. (Same deal with the one child rule). Increase there mass transit systems (Bus's and Trains) and stray from individual people for there own cars. This might have a positive outcome.

ehh why not do that in america ? the cars in china are mostly much more efficent than the gas guzzlers in the states. you can not ask a county to do somthing like that until your country is doing everything possible to reduce fuel use .

The US has more cars/people ratio than anybody but you want other countries to use less energy?

Wow. You ready to give up your car XR? You ready to have the government take it away from you?

This is what I am afraid of. We live in a free country and that's what makes it great. I cringe at the idea of the Gov. legislating how much gas I can use. I am all for conserving, and I don't drive a hummer, but I'm also for freedom, and if the guy next door to me wants to drive a hummer, he can. As soon as you start allowing the gov. to give you your allotments of gas, it'll open the door for everything else.

yeah but with freedom comes responsibility , if you do not like high oil prices you can not complain if you have not already tried to reduce the amount you need.
if you want to drive big waistful cars you have to take responsibility for what that will mean.

I completly agree, and that is why you won't see me drive one. My argument is that you cannot try and legislate that responsibility. Just because an administration may think it's "right" doesn't mean it should pass laws to tell it's people how much of it they can use. Some gov's may do that, but if we're going to continue to call ourselves a free country, we shouldn't.
I believe that is what set's us apart, we our a country for the people by the people. And with that comes that if the people wants to waste gas and drive big cars, they have the RIGHT to do so, I can't tell them that they aren't allowed to. Untill the people want gas retrictions, or want to take it upon themselves to change, then the gov should not try and enforce it, because then the gov is not doing what it's people want, and thats not democratic.

Example: I ride a motorcycle to work every day 30mi round trip, rain or shine and even in the winter. My gas bill is aprox $20 a week.. I'm having to beat conservation into my boys though.. Their starting to beg for gas money!
