The Law of Supply & Demand doesnt work!!

that is a plethora of posting. AMEN MIKE! It's called elasticity, that's why the corporations can fudge on the prices to fatten their coffers. You WILL buy gas.

Just to shed a light on electric cars. Take a look at earth movers. Each of their wheels is powered by an extremely powerful electric motor, does this make them green? No. There is a huge diesel engine to power them. Electric motors are just another way to convert harnessed energy into a form we can use. Something has to run these, maybe betteries? What goes into making these batteries? Heavy metals, countless BTU's of energy that most likely come from carbon based fuel. This isn't even taking into account where recharging them comes from, the power plant. Sure there are nuclear, hydro, solar, and wind powered plants... but a goodly amount still are run by fossil fuels. Yes it is greener on our end, but the higher demand on producing these "green" products in an "ungreen" fashion will just shift where the by products come from and make us feel better.

I don't care so much about oil futrues b/c think of it like this. oil goes up $1 a barrel THAT DAY gas goes up $.10 or more. oil DROPS $10 THREE DAYS LATER gas drops $.02. WHERE did the last three days go?

Another point I forgot to mention earlier is that gas isn't relatively so expensive as when looking at history.

Crude Oil now has finally reached over $100/barrel
Yes in the 90's it was 20-something/barrel for most of the time.
Look back to the 40's (and this was when OPEC WAS practicing oil dumping in the US), it was in the 30's/barrel. Sound like more now? Figure in inflation.

Oil goes up and down. Yes it's at a record high right now, which causes people to look for causes. My cause? Long term market fluctuation.

Why do we expect the jobs of factory works to be kept at 30 dollars an hour? Why when these people lose their job they find it hard to work for less or do more to keep the same wage? That is the problem, many have over estimated their worth.

This is also a great point. As someone who lives in Detroit, and in the heart of the over-paid, under-skilled workforce, I get in many heated debates because people don't like hearing that.

Actually the real problem stopping most companies and countries/economies from switching to alternative fuels is that oil is far TOO CHEAP!!! While this may not be a popular idea, I hope that fuel gets far more expensive and very fast. Thats the quickest way for some countries to implement change.

Also as consumers you CAN choose to pay more for a hybrid car. Its not rocket science.
