The MONSTER Fluval G series!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe the slower flow rate will help with filtration, look at the turn over rate with sumps are on average much much slower then most canisters. But the price tag is high on them seeing you can get a sump that will run around 4-500 and I was talking to our rep and he told me that they will be retailing for 5-700 closer to 7 (CDN) Way way to expensive.

Why would the Fx5 drop in price when this filter is NOT replacing it?

The Fx5 came out and the 05 series is still priced around $200. There is no reason for the Fx5 to drop in price. The G series is a whole different filter and will not be "replacing" any of their filters at all nor will it be changing the prices.

personally

I will say this for this filter. I run my tanks in my restaurant and for the tanks that are visible due to metal stands I would for sure buy this simply for its display quality.

I would have to agree as well that faster flow does not necessarily mean better filtration. Since the faster flow means harder push on the filter basket. Will have to see how this stands up to the test of the fish keeper.

I was talking with my rep about the slower flow rates, and he was actually saying that if you compare apples to apples with a filter such as the ehime filters they are actually the same flow rate. Most flow rates are actually based on filters running with no media in them. when you run the fluval G with out media its the same rating as the others with no media and when you run with media its like the high end versions of Ehime. Really slower flow rates are not a bad thing. I am more turned off by the cost, and am looking forward to the reviews of those who do buy them.

We were all thnking it but I guess I'm gunna be the only guy to say it... They should have made it so you can plug in your iPod while your doing water changes. Now that would make Hagen some money! :ROFL:Wait, forget you read that. [laughing maniacally / running patent office]

I am looking forward to real world reviews from actual user on this anyway.

Your rep is full of sh**. Of course he is a rep and wants to sell the product.

Eheim filter flow rates are based on filters with media. Actual flow is very close.

The Fx5 filter flow rate is based with media and it is what it is.

So the Fluval G has an even slower flow rate than what is posted? This really is a POS for the money.

Depending on the size of the tank and the slow flow rate of the filter, mechanical filtration will suffer greatly because everything will settle to the bottom.
