The work starts here. 20ft tank!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
U seem to be going in the wrong direction now lol....U need that 20ft. length :) Do you not have enough room in ur basement to re-attach it for the 20' span? Not a die hard cichla keeper like most but i only keep 2 in my 300....2'x8'x30" tall. If i were you and i couldnt fit the 20' length i would make two 10 footers and stack them on a rack. Gives you all the gallons it would be attached and no waste of tank. I would also just chain them together on a single sump. Far easier to take care of more water than less IMO. .

I have a 25' empty wall in my basement lol I do have the room but Im dead set on bringing it in the house in one piece. In my mind 20' is out of the question but 13'-15' is in the possible realm if I can open up the landing area at the bottom of my stairs.
Here is a picture of what im dealing with (the landing at the bottom of the stairs is only 7')

This.
But i would do the utmost to have it in one piece!

Tear that whole place down and put the tank in.

Do it in a way that your wife forgets the basement ever existed.

Lol!! I've got the wife telling me that I better be getting all 20' down there, So she is on board. But she doesn't have to deal with knocking out a wall. Its a load bearing wall to boot, if it was just a normal wall it would already be gone. But being a loaf bearing wall I think I will have to get a steel I beam to span over 7'

Lol I know man its a pretty hot topic. Thanks again for the hook up! As you can see im trying to do it justice and keep it as long as possible!.

Been doing some talking with my friends who are gifted in the art of acrylic, the tank is going into the basement in either 8' or 10' lengths then being bonded back together down there... so the tank will be either 16' or the full 20' span... you all talked me into it ;) test fill in the basement will be a little nerve racking but oh well least ill have all eyes on the tank as its getting filled!!
