Thinking about a poly...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, after looking through some of the stickies and watching the video about them, I think that I would like to get a polypterus endlicheri. I know I just saw some of these at my LFS last Thursday. Does this sound like a good choice?

Endlis are awesome. You'll be happy with it. The challenge will be not buying a crap load more lol
What was the best size and type of red garnet you suggest? I am also on black sand same as Fish Tank Travis and Endli's and other bichirs do look pretty good on it but I think the red would still be the best. Do you think I can get the same type of red garnet you use here in Australia? Also would you suggest a black background with the red garnet?

Email Lcruz@barton.com and ask if she can locate any distributors in your area ?

Availability on red or purple garnet really depends on where you're located. Meaning it's easier if there is an abrasive company within driving distance. I say this because a walk in pick up is so much cheaper than having 40-50lb bags shipped to u. My suggestion would be if you're asking for red/purple garnet abrasive (sand blasting media). State where you're located. Cuz it helps. :)

Kleenblast.com locations are primarily on the west coast. If you're near one of these sandblasting facility(store). A walk in will typically be $18-25 per bag. I bought my Idaho Purple Garnet #36 for $22 each. A fellow I referred the lead to had a Portland, Oregon location bring in a pallet of 30/40 Barton red that they never carry, because he committed to 10 bags.
