Oddball said:Not much. Those little bio-balls only have 21.5 sq/ft of surface area for bacteria to adhere to. That's why they're so cheap. 1 1/2" bio-balls have 160sq/ft of surface area per gallon but, cost alot more. It'll take about 3-4 bucks to make up a gallon of scrubbies. But, they'll have a surface area of 370sq/ft.
