This is why dead loaches smell so bad

humm, loach oil, seems some money to made there. I need to send email to Gwyneth Paltrow and see what she can do with her Goop page.

Yeah, I bet if the fishing industry caught on, we might see whole roasted clown loaches on the menus of Asian restaurants or tanks of live loaches at fishmarkets. They'd probably be popular too, maybe even approaching salmon and tuna, due to them being oily fish and the presumed Omega-3s within. Like I said, they'd probably taste like most other oily fish, in particular carp, but with no muddy undertones.

If the fishing industry caught on then prices for a clown loach would shoot up.
"Ahh yes, you want the 2 inch clown loach? That'll be $89.21."

Yeah, the price of the live adult (serving-size) clown loaches at the fishmonger would probably rival those of the grouper, the king crab, the sea bass, the red snapper, and the sushi grade tuna, all of which are very expensive.

Well a 12 incher you might get for a smooth 1k IF you can even find them! I remember reading that fugupuff said something about their once being 12 inches plentiful and some 16 inches that looked like carp. I would have given up my fedora for a month to see that.
At least there would be an upside. Since they would be so expensive a lot more people would be tempted to try to breed them.

Just a thought: Clown loaches are related to carp, and here's carp's story: Prized in the aquarium trade as koi, but one of the cheapest options at the fishmonger due to there supposedly being too many bones and a muddy aftertaste. Basically, the aquarium and fishmonger prices for carp are polar opposites; have you ever seen giant tri color koi for 3 bucks a pop or carp fillets that cost more than the red snapper? That could be the situation with clowns as well, could it not?

Most likely not because 12 inch clown loaches are rare and I guarentee you that aquarists would buy as many as we could to prevent them from being eaten.
Also, why would the supplier sell the fish for maybe $20 to be used as food when he could sell it for $1,000 as a fish?

Because shipping a dead fish is easier and cheaper..referring to shipping from over seas

This reminds me of a story I read where a mam bought an expensive flowerhorn then ate it while he took a video.
