If one can't act like an adult in the Lounge, what makes anyone think that same person would act like an adult in a different folder?

Neil the antics arent specific to the lounge plenty of sections or areas where the bickering and antics is far worse.

The entire notion of this kind of folder on a fish forum, seems extreme to me. My point is, how will one control viewable content in such a folder? This is a site that allows children to join.

We have grown men who can't seem to follow who said what to who in a rather simple discussion, but we expect children to do what, vet themselves? Sign a waiver? Have their parents sign off?

Imo this wouldnt be needed since nudity and foul language would be forbidden.
Same as every other section.

Yeah Frank, I have read the entire thread. A folder such as being proposed will start all nicey-nice with everyone paying attention to not break any TOS, and will later degrade into a free for all. It's the nature of the beast.

You are probably correct but i disagree with all of you that state this is the only outcome. Im sure its likely but theres also the chance that it doesnt. I mentioned the poly section already but its a perfect example. Lots of heated debates on catch locations, behavior, tankmates, ect ect same as any other section. Never a need for a mod to intervene. Self policed. So at the very least there is a chance it could work out.

What you seem to want, and correct me if I am missing something, but you appear to want a sub folder of the Lounge, so that some of you can discuss topics that for the most part currently violate the TOS of this site.
To me an expanded list of acceptable topics equates to wanting to bend the current rules, to conform to what you would like to discuss, things that currently violate the TOS. Wild wild west, no holds barred, semantics my friend. It will have the same end result, no matter what one calls it.

Yes. Exactly we are trying our best to respect the TOSand not create issues for the mods to have to resolve. So yes no issues saying it we would love a section where issues that are taboo would be allowed.

Other the vipers post where are we asking for no holds barred ? Infsct its been stated quite of few times already that this is NOT what we are seeking.

And theres any less antics in the GA or CA sections ? Last yr i got a pm to meet another member to meet them at a movie theater over a min tank size discussion lmaoo cmon. Of course the movie theater didnt exist.

Viewable content as in dirty pics or threatening violence? I guess just like the regular forum. The children deal is the main problem, but things are already spillimg over into the lounge.

....and yes basically an area to talk about current events that would violate current TOS.

I'm for the greater good though. It was just an idea a couple of us were kicking around

I'm not sure where I stand here but I'll mention something about the only other forum I'm on. They have a section that only is displayed to logged in members. Now if you could add to that only members who've been around say 3 years. I think that could cut down on some riff raff getting in. But I'm a little apprehensive about the idea, for me anyway. Without restriction, it wouldn't be long till some Fd up things are said. By me anyway lol. I'd have zero friends.

Well you're still going to have adult content. Think of it like a tv show all the disclaimers are shown before the show begins.

...but there's adult content out there anyway. I don't know how the liability etc would work tbh

I'm not sure where I stand here but I'll mention something about the only other forum I'm on. They have a section that only is displayed to logged in members. Now if you could add to that only members who've been around say 3 years. I think that could cut down on some riff raff getting in. But I'm a little apprehensive about the idea, for me anyway. I guess it could survive, maybe even be a nice place with a little more elbow room. The absolute most important question that trumps all though is,. Would Neo like something like that attached to his FISH site?? Idk. I think Thunder dome would have to have it's own mod too...

You just had me thinking... theres adult content everywhere anyway. So really nothing would change. At the end of the day we are asking to talk about things that are already being reported in the news..so the content is already available.

Bedlam breaks out in every section on every forum. This area wouldnt be much different.

The worst convo i remember was in the GA section. The one where the guy was saying he values animals lives over a childs.... world war 3 broke out. This is no different than any section. Imo even the recent issues didnt start in the lounge. They started in GA and ENDED in the lounge. The person had an agenda and it bit her in the butt plain and simple. This type of crap cant be avoided i guess.

Kudos for MFK to standing up to said agenda

Idk man he probably wouldnt. Maybe even we wouldnt if we were in his shoes. I wonder if simply having it an only member section and obviously NOT NAMED thunderdome would help haha
