Hello; To be fair I am guilty of ignoring most of what FH says in his posts. I simply did not consider his rants. My bad on that in that the words were actually typed. (This is where I considered adding a snide and derisive comment about you RD, but chose not to. You keep right on doing your thing tho.)

Back before this thread was started there were some comments among a few of us made in some PM's. FH was not a part if those conversations then nor later. FH did jump right in, you are correct about that and I concede you did find something to reference from FH.

(Note- I now am not specifically addressing RD.)The PM's were about the way things were going with regard to the site being gamed with a tactic that gets threads closed. That was the genesis of this thunderdome thread. My take is this may not go anywhere but I do hold out some slim chance that a way to stop that particular tactic can be had.
I have been considering some of the posts made so far (some not all to be clear). First I do not yet favor a no-holds barred wild west spot in the lounge. I am not yet ready to endorse particular "new" rules, but can envision how a few rules changes might be of value. Me thinks a list of new rules now is a bit premature as we are still in the brainstorming stage.
(During brainstorming the idea is for folks to be able to throw out ideas both awful and clever. Later on those ideas are poked and prodded so as to cull the bad fits.)

While we can continue with the process it may run into a brick wall if the Mods do not buy into it. There was a term back in the day called "mau mauing the flack catcher". A flack catcher being the person out front or who answers the phone and basically has the job of listening to the rants of unhappy clients. Had this very thing happen to me recently in a call to my satellite TV provider.

I think one of the better ideas was the minimum membership time.

A member with 3 yrs has most likely made friends and relationships he/she wouldnt want to throw away.

Maybe some with a few months has less of an emotional attachment.

Hello; Had another thought. I have been engaged in a PM conversation with a few others for some time now. Those of us in that conversation have been getting along without oversite quite well.
To be clear at least a couple of us have gone at each other on the open forum in the past. It is not entirely a buddy-buddy thing is the point.
Thing is the person who started the conversation "invited" the others. Problem is the number is now limited to six members. We are maxed out. My thought is if the number limit in a PM conversation can be raised this might be a way to give me and maybe a few others a place to go.

Again just a thought. Might have lots of unintended side effects I do not see. That is why we brainstorm with a group so group knowledge can add things from experience or knowledge.

You just had me thinking... theres adult content everywhere anyway. So really nothing would change. At the end of the day we are asking to talk about things that are already being reported in the news..so the content is already available.

Bedlam breaks out in every section on every forum. This area wouldnt be much different.

The worst convo i remember was in the GA section. The one where the guy was saying he values animals lives over a childs.... world war 3 broke out. This is no different than any section. Imo even the recent issues didnt start in the lounge. They started in GA and ENDED in the lounge. The person had an agenda and it bit her in the butt plain and simple. This type of crap cant be avoided i guess.

That's true. That last one started on gel food in the discus section believe it or not lol (this tells me what I need to know about this community)..that's here nor there now though.

I guess it could survive, maybe even be a nice place with a little more elbow room. The absolute most important question that trumps all though is,. Would Neo like something like that attached to his FISH site?? Idk. I think Thunder dome would have to have it's own mod too...

He does not and has been clear about that. The stance has not and will not change. If people want lawless whatever, feel free, just not welcome here.

Neil the antics arent specific to the lounge plenty of sections or areas where the bickering and antics is far worse.

Thanks Frank, I probably miss a lot of it as I tend to avoid drama as much as I can.

Years ago, long before any of you commenting about this "thunderdome" or some of the current drama, were members here, there was bickering FAR worse than what I have seen in the past several yrs here. Far worse, and sometimes daily, and sometimes discussions (along with bickering) that lasted days. But this is what the report button is for, and this is what mods are for. Warnings were handed out, threads cleaned up, and sometimes when things went to far, members were banned. One of my all time favourite posters here on MFK was banned during one of these fiascos. Not good, not good at all, but sheet happens.

IMO - the above example is exactly how htis site should work, follow the TOS and no worries. For those that don't, report them, mods can't be everywhere, all of the time, monitoring everything posted.

I personally see no need to tweak the TOS here, or add yet another folder for people to discuss non-fish related topics. I guess neither does the owner of MFK.

Smh talk about hyper sensitivity. I missed that one. But after reading it i found answers to some questions swirling around in my head.

I think the bleach one was worse. I let my wife read that one. Lmaoo wife would have been banned on that thread.

I hear ya man. Im no old school mfk'er and most likely 99.999% of the members here wouldnt even notice if i were ousted.

This thread was and is an extension of a pm. B.s.'ing about how it could be done. Pros and cons and what not.

Im sure the rules are in place because the privileges were abused. Maybe people learn from having something taken away maybe not.

This section is for non fish related discussions right ? this thread doesnt seem to be violating the tos or the section. No one is asking for anything just talking about a subject no different than bonsai trees or what movies we're watching

Correct, and no one is attempting to stop anyone from doing so. As I said early on, I'm just shooting the shhhh, like everyone else.
