I better stop reading this thread, you guys are giving me an ulcer :swear: If my Tig goes belly up on me I am just going to be sick. I've seen pics on the net at scotfish.com of 2 footers in captivity and somewhere else too. I thought there was an old thread here that showed big Tigs in tanks???

wouldnt worry about your tig.. i know and seen your tig since it was a 2-3 incher.
its been acclimated for a while.. its rock solid.

Thanks  that makes me feel better. I think George said he had him for about a year before I bought him. Man do I love this fish!! I am really starting to like the single species tank thing. He acts way more secure now that he's the only fish in the tank. He is also pretty interactive already. I had a Porcupine Puffer that was like that and I miss him alot, he got stung by one of my Lionfish and died (another single species tank lesson learned) I look forward to growing this guy out for a LONG time.

cool..glad to hear you very enthusiastic about tigrinus. they are very captivating.
G is right, hes had that for a while now.. i would say 7 mos to a year .. All the weak tigs have since died. I dont know if you can keep a solitary tank for long though..
that tank is just begging for a top dweller !

Yeah but the only "top dweller" I can think of that would be cool is an Arowana and a 180 is too small for an Aro. I don't like Dats so there is not much else to consider for tankmates I guess?

a 180 will do for quite some time. i say a black can live there for 11/2 years before
it grows it out completely. By that time, you could sell it off upgrade, or trade for another fish. Datnoids would be nice...

Yeah, well I have a baby coming in January so ixney on fish funding anytime soon for a bigger tank :swear: I have heard that Dats are Ich magnets?? and expensive, and need to be in brackish water as adults, or at least semi-brackish? not sure if that's true or not? Shark Aquarium has a Black Devil catfish listed on the site, I really want him bad!!!!! but that would be another single fish, single tank setup. From what I have read they destroy everything, how cool  I just wonder if I set up one of the 125 gallon "glasscages.com" tanks that are 72" long and 24" wide, if that would be big enough for one? nobody here seems to have one or know much about them?

dats do get agressive when they get to about 8inch i had to sell all my dats
geos are good for the mid water with the tig

i wouldnt put any other cat with the tig

the tig i have now is sweet even if it will only live a few months

enjoy them when they are alive :)
