Tips and advice on first rays

So my rays will be fine during the first 2 months in my 125 then I take it? Btw I think it's a 150, which is a little more water dilution, but other than that, if tig phish had his in a 120 for that long, mine will be fine. Still my water is pristine clean right now and always is, ample filtration, I've sold almost all the stock so far as well, and bigger tank is no problem (TAX REFUND PRESENT). Also, I have 4 airlines going into tank with one going to a sponge filter in the tank as well, and a spray bar that agitates the top water too.

If the tank is 4'x2'x2' as you said on your first post, it is 120 gallons.

A 5'x2'x2' is a 150.
A 4'x2'x2' is a 120.
A 6'x1.5'x2' is a 125.

Which one do you have?

Sorry, I have a 4x2x30"
And the rays I am getting are 6 inch disc. So maturing but still young.
Should be fine in there don't worry. Just remember females will
Grow fast and big compared to the males which are normal. I'd keep it in there for a year mad should hit 12" or bigger

Oh wow I didn't think they would work in that tank for that long, that's a lot more generous than the other guys were saying. So I don't have to worry about that that much. Another question, I usually keep my tank pretty full, about an inch or so from the brim, with egg crate covers. But when rays climb the glass, will they ever actually try to slip out of the tank?

Yeah when I say max it should be less than a year don't push your luck you know how big they can get. It's two feet wide so don't push your limit because males will not grow max in a year but a female can get massive.

Oh yeah I know what you mean. I still intend to get the new tank within 2 months, not just for the rays either. I've been really researching build projects on here and other places, and I just want a massive tank because I'm addicted to the hobby anyway. Ok, shallowest a tank can be? Are those like 8" deep "petting ponds" at he zoo too shallow for them to live in permanently? Maybe not 8" but you get the idea, is shallow ok? Or do they need the climb the glass behavior?

Try to have the most space as possible so full up tank to the top and cover lids. Most rays are on bottom but they tend to go all over the place as well

8" or anything below 24" is not recommended for long term. Shallow tanks are used mainly for display. You just mentioned you want a "massive" tank so stick with that, and width is more important than height (obviously for rays).
Yeah I was just thinking a shallow eye level tank would be kind of cool. But thanks guys for being so helpful I really appreciate it. Rays arrive in the US on Tuesday, then hopefully make it to me but the end of the week!
