Well Monday was my 46th Birthday, with that said I got myself something.
I found this beauty on OfferUp. The tank is a standard 125long 6ftX18inX22in. Thing of it is tho it's never been used, not one time. This nice old couple bought it new. Hubby is a retired woodworker and built the stand. 2x4 frame with real oak trim and 3/4in Oak pkywood. Its glued and nailed together, sanded, sealed, stained. And it is heavy, weights more than the tank itself. He got the stand built just in time to move. New house don't have room for such a tank so they sell it off. Having never set it up one time.
With all that said what do you think I paid for it?
A couple days ago I made a tread asking some questions about an African peacock tank. At the time I was thinking of getting a tank that had Africans in it before, so had the African Cichlid substrate in it already. As we see I didn't get that tank.
So I have four tank idea's and you all get to help me pick. At a minimum it will be two months before it's up and running. Next month (July) I was going to get a FX4 for it. August will be substrate, fish, plants, background.
1) African Peacock all male tank.
This would be nice due to being able to get 15ish different fish. But this would be the most costly tank due to the fish being $20 to $50 bucks each for males.
2) A Green Terror tank, the Wet Spot has some nice wild silver seams in. Spanner barbs and a Sorubim lima "Lima Shovelnose" catfish. Yes another SA tank so that's why I picked different dithers and catfish.
3) A Platinum Jack Dempsey tank. I can get some of Yankeejack's fry. Let them grow and get a pair out of it. Extras give to other MFKers in the area. Have swordtails as dithers and some kind of catfish. Was thinking either a 6pac of Pictus, or another Ornatus. But that wouldn't be a correct catfish since they are SA.
I was thinking of recreating a scene from
duanes
Wild JD video.
Goto 3:45
I was going to make this scene. Some branches/rocks on the right side, a little bare area, then like 2ft of the left side just crammed full of watersprite. I think that would be a close recreation of that.
Also any central catfish that normally luve with JDs on the list?

4) A Festae tank. I know males get huge and would either rehome him when he got bigger or get a bigger tank. But I can do a solo female, since they get about the same size as an Oscar
Pointers tip ideas would be great. All fish would be acquired from the Wet Spot save getting them Plat JDs from Yankeejack.
