May I ask a question how big are the polys, I am taking it since the oscar is only 6 ins and the fires are only 3ins the polys are probably small . So if he has 7 polys lets say 6ins each he still has lots of room. He can always rehome whatever in the future. There is nothing wrong with getting fish growing them into breeders or whatever and rehoming them.

I have yet again been misunderstood. Oscars ( and other fish) can live perfectly fine in small tanks ( by small I mean the tanks aren't 300 gallons plus) I am just saying they would be more comfortable in larger tanks. And I compare them to humans because we also CAN live in small spaces but are happier in larger spaces. A tank that is 18" wide is fine for a 16" fish, but they would be happier in a 24" tank. It's just a preference of mine. I think fish should have plenty of swimming room just like dogs need running room.
How about this, add the GT. And when your fish are full grown and you feel like they don't have enough space, or you can't keep nitrates down, you can always remove some of them.

That still doesn't make your human-fish comparison make any more sense than it did before. You are comparing one to the other without looking at the millions of factors that make the two completely unlike eachother, then saying that your comparison is still somehow applicable to this situation.......
