torn on my handgun option

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well my favorite hand gun i own is my 1911 custom and as far as revolvers go its got to go to the blackhawk .45 have fun with your new handgun whatever you choose!

I believe the xdm has different backstraps so that you can adjust the way it fits your hand, you might want to look back at the 40 and see if it can be adjusted to fit your hand better since it will be easier to carry than the 45. If you like the xdm you should look into the fnp45 tactical, similar feel & price but 14 round capacity plus it's made in America. If the 9mm was equal to the 40, why did the experts at the FBI adopt the 40 as their official caliber instead of sticking with the 9mm? If you practice enough you can control any round.

If your set on XDm, go with the 9mm. 40 offers almost no advantage over the 9mm(except a mild increase in barrier penetration, which doesnt affect most of us) costs more and has less capacity. 45 costs even more(even to reload) and has even less capacity. the XDm in 9 can carry 19+1. Win!

I will be using the gun for every thing I can. I have heard mixed things on the 9mm so I have not thought much about it other then my wife's gun. No matter what the cost is I will be well practiced in it. I shoot 10gauge now so I am used to high priced shells. With my research i have found to reload both sizes would be the same price about. I have held the xd and xdm and the xdm fits my massive mits well.

I am set on the xdm since I have been looking for around a year and they fit me well and they fell right in my hand. I will look into the 9mm and see how that feels, but the .45 and.40 were perfict fits. I forgot to look at the back straps to see if they were just a diff size, but the xd 9mm was to small.

I guess it my help to know I am 6'5"and 300 lbs so small compact guns just don't feel right. I will be carrying my s&w .460 just because it is pimp and I can. Also I am not concealing it, I will open carry with at most my shirt over it.

err open carry with shirt over? where are you??? printing!!! yum yeah dont really know what to say about that, ovi depends where you are...

secondly, its 100% personal pref so if you have shoot and played with a few guns thats that sorted its just a case of cal. ive already stated i dont like .40 but thats just me. i use .45 in semis and .38 + .50 in wheel guns.... i have smaller hands and a double stack is not my first preference. i shoot modified 1911's, svi 2010 mods, and moddied cz's and s&w revolvers...

when it comes to semis i like sights closer to the barrel, low profile slides and as stated prefer a single stack mag... thats just me...

i can't seem to decide

xdm .45 or xdm .40:nilly:

i will be reloading my own shells and i just don't know what one to get. before a glock person says their bit on glock, i was thinking about a glock 22 gen4, but i found one and held it today and i don;t care for the fit in my hand it is "too square".

any opinions on witch one to get?

I'm 6'5" with big hands and I agree Glocks grips are way too blocky. Great guns, I just can't stand the grips and the square profile.
My buddy has an XDm 40 and it's a great gun but I think I'd step it up to the 45.
Are you set on Springfield? How about the Ruger SR40? It's a very nice polymer gun and is slim so for bigger guys it's great for a ccw. I have put upwards of 5k rounds thru mine and have had no issues.

Personally i'd go for the 9mm over either the 40 or 45..
I don't want to throw another gun maker up there for ya to choose from, but i've been looking hard at the S&W M&P 9mm and REALLY like that gun. Plus it comes with 3 different back straps so you can basically customize the gun to your hand.. :) I Tried it out a few times at the range and buying one after i get my taxes for sure.. I've had 2 different glocks (19&23) and didn't like how they shot.. Just my opinion though.. :)
