Win!

I went through a bit of this myself before getting the XD 45. I went to a store that also has a range & tried a few different XD's & XDM's. I like the looks of the XD 45 service model because of the barrel to frame ratio, & I like the caliber because if your going to the range your going because you want to have fun, & what's more fun, the smaller caliber or the hand cannon? I'd find a range that has the guns your interested in available for rent & go try them out.

Have you looking into getting a Sig Sauer? I'm a critic of 9mm for the stopping power. I have used it when it mattered and had to fire 7 shots that were all hits to knock the guy down. Some will argue that government issue FMJ ammunition is garbage and I will not disagree but it completely soured me on 9mm. My .45 is a Sig P220 and that in my opinion is the perfect gun. It's accurate out to 50m and I do have 100m hits with it but I do need a bit of hold off. http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductList/pistols-p220.aspx Sig also makes the P250 that allows you to change out the caliber and frame with very little work. http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductList/pistols-p250.aspx It is mainly going to come down to what you feel more comfortable with.

Kimber is making 10s? Winning!!!

10mm FTW!!!

I also forgot to mention I am mostly left handed. I can shoot with both and have killed may animals with both. This is another reason I have looked hard at the xdms. I will look at the others to see if left hand models are availible. Since I will get other handguns in the future.

Also I am in MN and our permits are to carry any gun open or concealed. Not just handguns.

I didn't like Glock, until I bought one. Now I don't even like holding my XD anymore. Ended up getting a Glock 27 (.40) as my carry weapon. I love everything about the gun. The build, the ergonomics, it's just perfect for me. The .40 round is nice and easy for me to shoot. I don't have big hands, but I did add the pinky extension on the magazine for a nice solid grip. Easily concealable with my Crossbreed SuperTuck. Not really on topic, but just thought I'd share anyways :)

I don't have any suggestions to add since I don't have the gun in question, and I won't bother to mention any others, or anything chambered for .40 but I have to say that I do like the looks of that knife.
