check out these new laws about to be passed in AUSTRALIA.

http://www.perthcichlid.com.au/forum/index.php?showtopic=20326&st=0

every fish i own is on the 'grey' list :nilly:

i can see where they are coming from but hobbyists should be able to have the option of getting a license to keep exotics or something. they were about to pass this law without even telling the public cihlid societies etc. technically they could come into your own house and kill your prized possesions! we're trying to get as many emails/letters together so hopefully it should make a difference.

i swear if anyone came to my house and tried to kill my dovii...

Thats just crazy...thats like all the fish you would want to keep...koi...no koi ponds for anyone...just crazy! Good luck with that!

It would suck if these laws were passed but any existing fish you already have would not be in danger. It would just make it harder for you to acquire other new fish that have been banned.

Wow! Australia reall sucks I guess. They kinda pulled that crap in the States too as far as snakeheads and arrowannas are concerned. In America you can rip off a seniors retirement savings and get a slap on the wrist but keep a large fish in an aquarium and they will get you. Doesn't make any damn sense!

that law would make it illegal to keep the fish, whether or not you had it before the ban or not. i doubt they have a grandfather clause in it. otherwise people could still be breeding them. damn that sucks for all you aussies, its already hard enough for you to get cool fish way way way down under, now itll be illegal. have to just start keeping native fish. or are they illegal too?
