You are probably right about the grandfather clause. The point I was trying to make is that I would be very surprised if they strictly enforced these laws in terms of seeking out current dovii or other banned fish owners. Where you will see the real impact of the law is in the effect on importation and sale of these fish.
 
Ouch prices of fish in Australia are so high and now they wan't to do away with large fish all together ouch
 
I know how you feel cuban...pretty much leaves me on the sc@#$#d list.Upstanding normal citizen one day, a criminal the next. If it is inevitable, there should be a grandfather clause in it allowing those who can prove possession before the new amended law to keep such fish without breeding until it dies at least. I would provide any info necessary, even allow them into my house to prove I have more than enough means of caring for and ensuring the said fish will live out the remainder of its life here. I would allow check ups from what ever government body and when the fish has died of natural causes, I then will hand over the fish to prove he has passed and has not been released..I can't imagine putting most of my fish down, especially my Jag.

I was on an Aussie website yesterday, and people already have had their fish destroyed because of this, they're following it pretty well.
It really sucks for all you awesome Austrailian people, I feel ya.

Just load up on Dingo's and pray for the Gov't officials to try and come in your house :)

I have a Lab and a Pitbull, and let me tell you, no unwanted person would make it in my house and out alive.
 
this is why im an anarchist, damn all the stupid rule makers for lumping everyone together and not singling out the actual criminals just cause they find it a little more difficult.
