Hi, I have a 12 inch Rivulatus in a 90 gallon tank with 2 plecos. The tank is being filtered by 2 Aquaclear 110s. I'm using a 250 watt aqueon pro heater set to about 78° Fahrenheit. Lots of big water changes and I'm currantly feeding (or at least trying to feed) Fluval bug bites pleco and cichlid formula.
My Rivulatus hasn't been eating for a while and he's getting pretty skinny. He has white stringy poop and I noticed the same for the plecos. I have tried feeding him food soaked in Epsom salt for a while and it seemed to help for a bit but the problem returned. So I then treated his tank and all my other tanks with Seachem Paraguard. It worked for my other tanks (they had a different issue not related to this, the other tanks are very healthy now) but the problem is back. Now he chews his food and spits it out shortly after.
I've also recently noticed he has white dots that look like they are coming from inside his head and they eventually grow and create a hole. Not sure if this could be hole in the head or something else.
I've heard of the trio of medications from Aquarium Coop that seem to work very well for a broad list of issues. The trio consists of API General Cure, Ich X from Aquarium solutions and API E.M Erythromycin (He recently switched the last one with with Maracyn which is basically the same thing).
Sorry for such a long post, but has anyone ever used this or can anyone give some advice as to what I should do? Thank you in advance.
