Nice Trimac's, Ralph. I'll post some pics of my bunch after they have grown a little more. Is that a real lizard sitting on the phone next to the tank?

thanks gruff master i really like the pair but i just needed space . the iguana is real , that was "buzz" he got to be almost 6 feet long .i sold him because he bit my girlfriend .she only got 3 stitches but the damage was done and she made things unpleasant till i got rid of him :nilly: ...

i think that's a male , females almost always have black on their dorsal fins .males usually have longer fins past their tail fins and a lighter dress when younger , of course thats not full proof , just wait and see ..rodald i think thats hella cool that you can just go to the water and catch some nice cichlids .forsure keep us updated on them ...are they eating?
how many?

Thanks ralph, then i think i have a male and a female :) right now they are eating pellets and i am also giving them some fresh shrimp.
pretty cool huh? actually in just one casting net throw i caught 3 Trimacs, 2 Astatheros Macracanthus, 1 Astatheros Longimanus and a lot of non cichlid fish and the river was no more than 12 feet width.
the sad part is that almost no one here in Guatemala knows theres those kind of fish in the rivers so most of the fish in the hobby are bought from pet shops and the people who fish its for eating and thats how i found out there were trimacs in this river because i saw a fisherman carring a fully grown male trimac wich was already dead and i guess he ate it at the end of the day

What are the ways to distinguish gender of Trimacs? Can you go by fin extensions or are there more definite qualities to look for? Albertjr hooked me up with a few young ones. They are still too small to tell but I'd still like to know what to look for when they're older. BTW has your pair bred again? That darn pleco!
