Trimac??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well so the majority opinion is a FH. damn that is a bummer for me. i'll keep them and post more pics as they grow. this will make the 3rd female FH. boo. was hoping it was male trimac for showoff purposes. but ya as of now i'll have to accept the majority. i'll try to keep updates if anyone was interested. :D

Trimac AKA THREE SPOT CICHLID aka Cichlasoma trimaculatum
MAIN THING TO LOOK FOR!
3 black spots... if there are way more it's probably not a Trimac, but you can also look to see if there are pearls, or a water heard or dont have very outstanding pearls, and there color is yellowish/greenish/goldish also the trimac body shape is different...
SEARCH the scientific name and you will see pictures...
BTW some ZZ FLOWERHORNS HAVE TRIMAC GENES IN THEM...

trust me i understand what you are saying, but check this pic:

FH? because it's got more then 3 spots?

did i say if it exclusively has more than 3 "dots" its NOT a trimac?? lol look at the nice lovely golden/yellowish gill covers, no pearls on the gill covers, and pratically none on the body ...PERFECT TRIMAC! now we playing guess what fish this is? lolz through selective breeding you cant get any pure trimac unless u go catch it in central america/mexico...

F0 Trimac x F0 Trimac = Not pure trimac? :screwy:

i guess u misunderstood...though selective breedin of a fish give you the same strain of course, but tell me how a fish thats goldish/yellowish will end up having so many other characteristics vs a pure strain...oh yea they selected wat they wanted/add some how pure :) in short selective breeding is not natural and why would it be pure ?... shoots this is like matrix multiplication ab not= ba (Not commutative)

I suppose I'll try to read that tomorrow. I have no idea what you just said.

hi all. was sold this fish as well as few others in December 06. purchased as trimacs form a quality store (but have never seen trimacs or FH at this store in past.). now these things have started showing colors and attitude. they are currently 2-3inches. the largest i have decent pics of here.

what are you guys opinions with these? Trimac or Flowerhorn?

the first and last pic had flash on. and middle pic don't.

IMHO, it's a trimac.:)

take your time read slowly ... heres and example that's about gold fish, now if you cant see how this corelates with the trimac question, and what you quoted me on :) (tx good point to explain) then i guess u really need to consider getting and education...

"Selective breeding has produced more than 125 breeds, including the veiltail, with a three-lobed, flowing tail, and the common, pet-shop comet."
