Trimac??

Take your time and proofread slowly please.
I have an education, but reading your replies made my brain twitch so I stopped trying.

So you are saying that there are no true Trimacs except for wild ones????? I really am not following your posts either. You say one thing then you are proved wrong so you back up and say you didn't mean it was 100% accurate.
So how do you know your gill plate method is accurate? I don't think Trimacs get that coloration until almost fully mature.

i never claimed anything i posted was 100% accurate... i didnt study these fish, and even if i did, its endless, i didnt back up... he read wat i said, and interpreted it, as most of you here have done, in ways to disprove me... and picking into my words as if this was a that paper am writing lol... all i said was that your fish and his fish are both flowerhorns, I stated my reasons, and you are entitled to disagree but all that matters is that you are happy, with your fish. tx

yeah i gonna have to re-read all this as well tomorrow when i am less blurred vision.

sounds like this yellow/green gill plate without specs, is how you determine what is trimac and what is FH.

y can i not seem to find anything that supports this? can you provide me with some links, or books or something that supports your method? i'm not saying your wrong. sorry maybe i just looking in wrong places, or something.

i also find it hard to believe that there is not a soul out there that has a real trimac. unless they went and collected it themselves in wild.

as i said, i will keep taking pics of these fish till they develop to nice adults, then we will hopefully see and understand. because i'm still lost. :screwy:

Well freak, for what my opinion is worth, I say it's a Trimac also. The fish isn't old enough, nor do you have enough information on where the fish was from to say that it is 100% pure, but it looks like a Trimac to me.

For some reason some people like to downplay the existence of nice fish. The only fish they deal with are low grade flowerhorns so I guess they think everything is a low grade flowerhorn. Who knows... I just wish the mods would do something about the fact these people obviously obtain great pleasure from being obstinate and contribute almost NOTHING to the discussion.

Maybe we need a discussion on what a flowerhorn really is. It's an easy argument to stand back and say, that's not a pure German Shephard regardless what authenticity information you have because the markings aren't exactly right. Like all German Shephards are clones and look exactly alike? It's an easy argument for the antagonist and an impossible argument for the protagonist. A flowerhorn is a mutt while a Trimac is a pure strain. BTW, for the record, it's Amphilophus trimaculatus (I'm tired of reading otherwise). Just count the number of times people call something a hybrid on this site. If they see a pic, and they don't know exactly what it is, it's a hybrid. Almost every single ID thread has someone saying that.

My advice to you? *Call* it what you want, I'd say it's a Trimac. If you breed it, you can't call the offspring Trimacs because you don't really have the authenticity to back it up. As you know, I purchased 6 pure Trimacs from Rapps, bred them, and still have to deal with this question from immature individuals who have nothing better to do than stand on their head and tell everyone else they're upside down. The bottom line is, as hobbyists, we all have only someone's word to go on. The fish could be wild caught, netted by the seller, but we still have to trust the seller's word that they are telling the truth. That's why it's so incredibly irresponsible for someone with limited experience, and no evidence whatsoever, to spit on someone and claim their fish are not authentic. Attacking someone's character is easy on the internet when you don't have to deal with the consequences face to face. Real easy...

Are those the guys from that show on A&E?

these are just a few shots of my trimacs, got a group this summer and kept the laregest one
