if i were to go with aros and other montsters it would be because i gave up on the cohabing thing and just went with veilds or something else large like that.
I wouldnt put chams in a habitat like this if for some reason it fell in the water they will more then likely drown.

I have a copy of Reptiles magazine that talks about having Green Tree Pythons in a biotope type setup and it says they do extremely well and will actually leave fish and amphibians alone, unlike the Emerald Tree Boa which will eat everything in sight. I always wanted to do a setup like this with lots of small community fish, a nice big GTP and a maybe a couple species of frogs. Whatever you do, if it is going to be an aquarium on the bottom, only stock herps that are good swimmers. Many things can drown easily.

I think it is the other way around tree boas are generally a mammal and bird eating species while the gtp will eat that and also reptiles and amphibians. I will have to dig through the old reptiles copies and check later to be sure.

that would be so cool to have a GTP or boa in there. i really wanted one but just assumed it would eat any reptiles or amphibians, it will eat reptiles though huh? logo, if you find out which one it is that will leave the amphibians alone can you post again, pleeeease:) i would be completely happy with one of those, treefrogs, and some ground frogs, along with the fish and roaches. yeah, most dart frogs aren't good swimmers, but they can definitely swim to shore within a couple of feet, so i wouldn't be worried about them if i got any.

thanks for all this help guys!!! keep it coming.

I did some more checking and it was GTP that eats reptiles and amphibians and the boa generally only eat is warm blooded animals. Another option for a snake species would be the green tree snake since they are insectivores. But it would be a necessity to quarantine these with a vet visit since they are usually wild caught and loaded with parasites.

The rough green tree snake (Opheodrys aestivus). They cost like $20 or so. native to north america.

Now that I think about it I remember seeing a north american mixed species setup before and it looked pretty awesome. Maybe you could do something like that and native fish below... just a thought.
