Unless pups have perfect dots(spots), we don't call it "Diamond" here ..
Even if their parents are BD. it will not be called.

It's hard to get a good result on first generation (wild BD x wild BD )
As for the fish of F1, the tendency that the spot decreases is often seen.
There were many F1 BD like normal Leo.
However F2 fishes tend to get incredible beautiful pattern like hybrid (Leo x Hen).
The breeding BD x normal Leo also useually get great pups. This is the most easy to get beautiful ray here.

I guess your pics are Mr.Maeda's breeding pups.
I have got his leopoldi pup for 14month.

Hi Mike,

in my opinion, those rays are undoubtly very nice and pure blooded leos, but no Black Diamond or Sao Felix leos.

Samurai posted some nice pics of pure BDxBD, I think, the difference can be seen easily, even if the pups of his photo are newborn and the ones on your pics are simply young.......I can send you some more pics of young BD, but only by mail, cause I am not allowed to post them here.

On the belly of the rays you showed in the first post, I cannot see any spots, except the few at the edge of the disc in my opinion, this would be a important criteria for BD genes!
