I’m giving pike cichlids another round. My dwarf passed away a yr ago and my pike sveni was rehomed. I made that mistake and regret so when I was window shopping at my Lfs, I noticed these 2. Both ate pellets and frozen shrimp so that’s a plus and best part was the Lfs guy made me a deal 2/$40. I think that’s a good deal. Either way I’m excited to give them another try. Looks to be about 5-6”. They will be going in my 135gallon with my lone redtail cuda. Hope they get along. Was labeled as C. strigata

They sure can eat! Ate all 6 feeders that was meant for the cuda and some frozen krill. Gonna have to feed them first before I feed the cuda. Maybe I’ll try to starve the cuda and hopefully it’ll learn to eat frozen krill and silversides from watching the pikes.

Great looking pikes. Look just like the Venezuelans I have had. From what I have read, true strigata are very rare nowadays, and most labled strigata are actually Venezuelans. They are very fun fish to own, best of luck!

That’s what I was reading online and the ones I have don’t show the spot behind the pectoral fins.

The real ? Is hope they get along when they get bigger. The big one seems to boss the little one hear and there but nothing major to worry about. I’ve read that pikes are very territorial and don’t tolerate another one.
