tsn dying

Also Miguel, just want to correct one thing, Ammonia is far more toxic at higher pH.

You are perfectly right. I know it. Just made a stupid mistake while writing. Sorry.

oh man i almost raised the ph and then i didnt. my filters on big sponge filter larger than my hand and a canister filter. all the dirt have seem to gone. and sponge filters colonise bacteria easily. just hope my tsn are alright in lfs

thanx you have been a big help if you had not said it was an ammonia spike i would have not even cared since i did not think ammonia was such a bad thing. hey wiil the sponge filter colonise bacteria overnight

will a pond rock from my pond work the pond has been never cleaned so it may have lots of bacteria

Sorry about your fish, but aren't you the guy who is talking about an ammonia spike lower down this forum and also in the same thread about getting an arapima and you "didn't realise ammonia was that big a deal"? Just wondering if it would be worth you looking after these fish and learning about things such as ammonia and nitrite killing fish before getting a fish that's even harder to look after

Have you tested your water at all throughout this ordeal? How long has this tank been setup and running? Ammonia is usually only a problem in newer tanks where there is not yet enough beneficial bacteria to break down the fish waste. You would have to keep up with water changes to keep ammonia, nitrite low while the tank finishes cycling.

Exactly. I am deeply, deeply puzzled why we are all talking may be ammonia this, may be ammonia that. Any hobbyist knows that one MUST start with the basic tests (done reliably) - NH3, NO2, NO3, pH, and temp, may be hardness too. Very highly skilled and experienced fish heads may not need it/some of it but 99% do.

Lupin wrote a whole piece on how to ask questions about health, deseases, and other related problems in a Deseases forum sticky. 1% of posters appear to half-follow that helpful write-up.

Please, let's start with basic tests better be liquid test tube tests, not strips. The fact that other tank mates are fine may or may not point away from ammonia.

White stuff may be excess mucus and may have nothing to do with ich. Cloudy eye may mean 10 different things, some rather innocent while others deadly. Good photos are also a must if one aims to help those who they are asking for help.

No don't put anything from your pond in tank dudefish it'll make things worse and may infect your healthy fish with something , daily water changes and gravel clean , take water sample to lfs if not got tester kit or unsure ,realy you just need to let your tank cycle now get some prime from lfs tomz , do think you should get to grips with water parameters etc before taking on a big pond and pimas , what size tank you got at min ?
