Types of Amphilophus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
cits - for all the reasons already stated. The crazy color combos of a koi, with a body and nuchal hump fitting of a warrior. A wild pair of labs would be my second choice, for the same reasons - just exchange nuchal hump for rock star lips.

This is damn near unanimous!

I would agree creamsicle midas or trimac.

I have a few males of each but my midas are barred, Lyonsi and a few labs.

If I had to choose between my own gold barred midas and my creamsicle labs, I would take the creamsicle labs, though I prefer the stockier look of a male midas.

Barred fish seem to (ime only) generally more aggressive than the brighter morphs. I believe this has to do with natural population densities and they depths they prefer.

My trimac is not as personal as the others but he’s the smallest at 8”

With the revolution going on in Nicaragua at the moment, I wouldn't expect much to be coming out for a while.
I have kept
labiatus
flaveolus

amarillo

trimaculatus

and lyonsi

can't sy I liked any one better than the other
I have always wanted to try hogaboomaroom, and sagittae

How big did that front male end up getting

Saggitae are great!
I have 4 of those too, they are open water and I’ve found them less aggressive than labs or cits.
Mine are xanthic, so I have whites, pinks, creamsicle and one that looks like it may end up blue in the end.

Great answer. Have you ever kept Trimac with any other cichlids?
Only when i divide tanks...my 3 main tanks are only 75.,120 and 150 gallon which to me limits it for a single or pairs of these type species... don't like split fins or fatalities so I don't gamble with it.....
