Update on my cats

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Glad there on the mend now water changes , your other cats wouldn't have been effected because they've got used to the water gradually , its happened in my tank before where I've put a new cat in all my others were totally fine

the red tail is the only one that really worried me because he's been in there for awhile and his behavior changed drastically with the temp increase but thankfully he seems to be adjusting now. Planiceps has been very active since he arrived and seemed unaffected by the temp change. He's the only one who contracted the ich though. I'm definitely relieved to be, hopefully, through the worst of it.

Cleaning the tank and moving some stuff around. Look who decided to show off. I never see him but he's certainly eating. The pics don't do his belly justice.

I really need to wipe the outside of the tank. It doesn't look bad to the naked eye, but the flash really brings the dirt out.

Trouble with the RTC. Since the end of April when I treated for ich with heat and a low dose of salt the RTC has been doing poorly. For a couple weeks he stayed next to an airstone at all times and was breathing hard nonstop(his gill plates also appeared somewhat caved in but look much better now). He seams to be over the heavy breathing but He is virtually inactive and eating very little. I'd have to measure to be sure, but he also doesn't seam to be growing in the last month, still about 4-5". I was concerned that the more active and larger cats in the tank were stressing him out so when I moved the cats to the big tank I moved him to the sump of the big tank by himself and he has a good spot to hide where he stays all the time and is still eating very little. I see him moving around pretty regularly now, just his tail sticking out of one end or the other of his hiding spot and when I check on him he appears healthy, but still not eating well. Hopefully he continues to improve and will soon be able to rejoin the other cats.

All other cats are doing very well and eat like pigs, though I have reduced the frequency of feedings in hopes of letting the RTC catch up a bit. I'll post pics shortly, I've got some of the planiceps, hybrid, and TSN, but the niger is being shy lately. I see him when I walk into the garage but he sees me pretty quickly and hides. The planiceps has become the most aggressive feeder of the group but doesn't stick around to eat, he grabs a fish and runs off then returns for more as soon as he's finished swallowing. TSN acts pretty similar but is a little more timid about getting to the food. Hybrid is lazy and usually the last to the food but stays and eats until the food's gone or he gets run into by one of the other cats.
