Today, I saw some "white infection" at his dorsal fin. I believe this may be the underlying cause of staying himself at the surface(there are water outlet). Therefore, I have added Paraguard to treat the infection.
Any advices for me pleas.
No my little IT's did the same,i fixed the problem by adding oxygen, lowering the temperature and did a water change.
i ad never problems with them before.
i agree, lower the temp to around 25*C and add an extra air stone in there power by additional air pump.
there is not enough oxygen in there, the reason why the other smaller indo
is not acting the same way is because small fish require less oxygen so they "manage" to survive with out going to the surface.
however, you giant needs more air! and this explains why he is always on top fighting to get more air.
you can also help it along with a large cold water change, take out 25% of water and add just cold tap water! this should fix the problem for a while, but the additional air stone/pump is a must. it be a shame if anything bad happens to that lovely looking dat
If you are going to do a water change with cold water, make sure you add it slowly as dumping in that much water at once will make the temp drop to fast and can stress/shock the fish.
You are better off just lowering the temp with the heater so it goes down gradually.
Until today, he still keeping himself at surface. I have increase aeration but the temperature now is 30*C. I will try gradually low it down.
So worried....
30 is a little high so its a good thing you are trying to lower it! but you could make it 28,27 pretty fast.. think of it as rain pouring down some shallow water, that would make the temperature drop quite fast. guess that is better than letting him having problems breathing.
My big guy 13" did the same thing when he came, making his face come out of the water and hanging alot at the top of the tank.. what I did was adding an air stone.. now he is doing great.. BEST of luck to you! and marvellous dat!
