Utah to use execution by firing squad on Friday

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm in favor of this also. I don't think there is any excuse for murder, especially women killed my men

I think everyone loses in this case (families effected) and the firing squad come out the worst. They will take someones life away for a pay check.

Very interesting topic though

to a mod? seriously?

to second VF, Good riddance scumbag!!
Id pull the trigger myself if i could. He needs killed plane and simple. IMO they should have killed him 25 years ago. We have wasted too much on the POS already.

It's fine Mark, you can't make everyone happy. I'm not really going to lose any sleep over this debate. The guy is scumbag, plain and simple. Some people think that everyone is curable and we should waste money over and over again to rehabilitate them or to keep them in jail until they die of old age. I think otherwise.

I bet if your wife was slain and just you and your 3 year old where left i bet your view would change. I can't stand how people have these "political" and "moral" views but they change them when the situation is flipped against them.

I still think shooting him is to easy. They should put him on a chopping board. Save money on taxes, give him what he deserves, and feed a cannibalistic country. I don't see where anyone loses.

wow, didn't think they still would do this.

i'm torn, yes he killed 2 people, and i'm ok with whatever is decided in court but it still don't feel right.

arent' there people who've done worse crimes that don't get the death penalty? that'd be my only real problem with the whole thing

no actually i dont. violence is part of life. might as well imbrace it. u might not agree, but would u rather pay for this "thing" to continue to exist on ur tax dollar?

I dont. When someone commits a crime such as this, no excuse. DEATH is the only answer. u think hours of therapy will solve his problems? maybe a group hug? how about spending the rest of his life behind bars with other criminals, who operate thier criminal organizations behind bars and order others to kill outside the prison. yeah lets keep them around. great idea!

and Seth, if ur good im good! :D

So if you're so against killing then what do you suppose they do. Im not sure if you know the legal system at all but a "life" sentence is really only 33 1/2 years in prison and they're out. I have taken a whole class about it. There is really no "life" in prison unless they are old and die before thier 33 years is up
An educated response. Murderers have been successfully rehabbed through behavioral modification techniques. A person is a dynamic, changing being and can be molded. Just like Skinner's rats pulling a lever for a treat, man learns rapidly what sort of thoughts and behaviors are rewarding. The missing part is a closely-monitored environment where the man must take stock of his thoughts and behaviors every minute of every day. Left to ruminate, the killer will often think bitter thoughts and feel rage toward...targets. But just like the alcoholic (raise hand) who learns to capture and extinguish depressing thoughts through intensive behavioral rehab (raise hand), the killer can be changed into a functional member of society. They're already around. Look it up. But unfortunately the murderous mob of popular vote would rather treat life as worthless than exert the few resources necessary to improve it. Perhaps people are scared to ask, "If it was me on the stand." I don't know why everybody seems so slaughter-happy. I've never known. Even in my darkest day, I never sought the death of another.

That's what our taxes should be used for. Helping the oppressed. Duh. :D

EDIT: If I haven't had a drink in four years, he can quit killing.

And I suppose you think it's okay to kill those dogs, too, don't you? Are you so keen to bring death into this world? Why are we all so given to the 'kill it' option? Do you want to end up on death row or something? There is always another way. Always. Killing is lazy.

Killing the dogs actually bothers me. Killing him, hey where do I sign up.

Killing this monster sits far more comfortably with me then killing a dog that is simply that an obedient if unlucky dog. We tried incarceration with this guy and that got two people killed. Rehabilitation should always be the first choice but this person's repeated violent behavior shows him beyond redemption.

Instead of helping him, they stuck him in a box. If you put any angry creature in a box, what's it going to do?

Very true. Prison is such a joke. Yeah, it sucks but it is more like a day camp for criminals. When they are in there all they do is LEARN! They learn from other criminals. "oh you know how to steal cars? tell me and I will tell you how to break into ppls homes without the alarm going off" Then when they get out they know even more skills to cause crime. The only way prison will work is if everyone is in cells by themself and no play time, oh I mean "yard time" what a joke

I think killing is a little bit more serious that drinking.
