Early 80's and before there were plenty... Now a days not as many...

But i think i see where you're going with this... So yes i agree crooked cops could sell guns on the side, but personally speaking, buy i still don't think the problem would be as bad though

Maybe you're right, there might be less guns floating around... But I still believe that humanity is the problem, not guns. All those Triad movies show that machetes are just as deadly as guns. There was a time when they tried to regulate the carrying of swords. Weapons are just an extension of human violence.

That part is definitely true, and i completely agree its humans that kill, not weapons...

But if you were to kill someone im guessing it would be much easier to shoot them than get close and stab them... Since any coward can pull a trigger, but takes some one with kahunas to do it with say a knife...

Freaking anti gun sheeple!

Look before there were guns freaking lazy worthless criminals looted and robbed hard working good people at bow point and before that they used swords and before that knifes and before that clubs and before that rocks and depending on how far back you'd want to go they used sticks and their damn fists. So you see criminals always have been and always will be criminals the only way there has ever been to stop them is for good men to stand and stop them. If you kill all the criminals then there will be no crime and no problem and good hard working people can thrive unmolested. Other wise if you believe in and practice gun control you're just waiting until it's your turn to be robbed raped or killed by you guessed it a criminal with a gun who imagine this ignored a law cause he was a bad man.

I wouldn't mind restrictions on gun ownership that were based on skill level considering that there are some people, including quite a few members of law enforcement, that shouldn't possess a firearm simply because they don't follow proper safety rules & such. Such regulations could be beneficial as criminals would know that anyone with a legally obtained firearm is skilled in its use therefore they're probably getting shot not to mention that accidents would be greatly reduced.

just for the sake of debate.
If, the next time this gun/crime statistic is measured, the numbers were to reflect in the opposite way, ie: showing gun ownership up and crime up would that then prove the opposite of the OP's assertion?

The problem is not guns , it is a-holes with guns.Sadly there's a lot of a-holes out there.
