War in Russia!

This just reminds me of a story I had heard once...
There was this big nation that had territories all over the world, for simplicity's sake, we'll call it England. They had this one territory that wanted to be freed.... real bad, we call them Americans. So they fought and fought over it, and I think we all know the end of that story.
Now let's update it. Ossetia is trying to keep/gain (depending on your thought process) it's independence from georgia. Russia is support this movement, and helping the Ossetians (or is it Ossetites?.... joke), much like the French did that in that doozy of a revolution we threw. So now if we think in these terms, would this be like America supporting the British government of the revolutionary period?
A small stretch I know, but oh how our role has change these past few hundred years.

you realize georgia is a US allie... and we are most likely going against Russia now. and now that that happened theres really nothing to stop us from entering Iran. China is kinda Busy with the Olympics so it most likely wont get involved right away (and also China wont fight against the US...)

The US, NATO (or any country for that matter) will not dare try to save Georgia's butt right now using any form of Military force. A international armed conflict with Russia would not be in anyones best interest. Not even the oft referred "Great America" and it's "army of one" is in any serious position to take on the Russia military in a head to head conventional war and certainly would not think to instigate a conflict involving WMD.
Russia also will not take this action outside of South Ossetia or Abkhazia.
When Georgia ceases all action and acknowledges these are now independent states (Within Russia and not Georgia), Russia will cease all attacks on Georgia proper and withdraw to a defense position.
No amount of international or western meddling will stop any actions by Russia to defend and protect it's citizens. Russia is constitution bound to defend it's citizens anywhere and it's interest in Nation states and territories of the remaining CIS and Russia.
