Warrior Flowerhorn?

If it were me, I’d rather put my money towards what I want. If you’re gonna pay $60 for 6 of these little guys and grow them out, you might get a nice fish out of it but it’ll set you back in time and effort. You’ll inevitably lose a couple due to aggression, you’ll have to feed, waterchange, wait, and go through the trouble of rehoming later...and there’s still a chance you won’t get what you want out of the group. Sounds like a waste of time. Just my 2 cents

I’m just gonna go look and see what they have, I’ve done more research and got some pretty good advice here, so if one looks good to me, I’ll take a $10 chance on one ( if they still have them,), if not I think I’m going with EA imports

I couldn't agree more with phreeflow. As much as I enjoy growing out fish, in a case such as this you can put a lot of time & effort into the process, and eventually end up right back where you are now. I just looked at EA Imports current selection, and all I can say is WoW. Compared to back in the day when I was buying FH from Asia, today's prices are dirt cheap! Some very beautiful fish for under $100, and certainly miles apart from what some random F1 parrot cross will ever turn out to be.

Thanks, I found one that looks like it has good potential from a seller I’ve bought from before and trust. It’s not show quality but has nice pearling and colors at 2”

I remember paying 2500 INR 8 years ago for my fish in India, it was a red dragon. Kamfas were out of my budget, thai silk use to cost like 10,000 INR.

Even today few fish cost a fortune but for 100 USD you can get a good looking fish. There were few completely red, red dragon flowerhorn on ea-imports.com for 100 including shipping.

Cool, good luck with it & make sure to post some pics once he's settled in and gained some size.

Late to the party...and I'd be here for a week hitting like on every post. You got a lot of awesome responses with great information. I bred two bonsai sb's together and got a big mix of regular body and sb. I was able to tell pearling around 1.5". I've seen a lot of fry photos and vids around that size also that show nice pearling. If the fry you're contemplating are around that size, you should be able to get an idea of the pearl they're going to have. A lot of people toss 2 fish together and automatically give it a line name, Warrior for example...lol. I've heard it's ok, I've heard it's not. I never named anything as any lines I am working on from scratch are still in beginning stages. Out of humor if my magma proves fertile, heck yeah I'll call it a Chalupa Batman line but for more laughs than anything.

Turns out mine wasn’t any type or strain, just a low quality FH or not a true FH.
I bought another Red Dragon from a seller I trust and it should be here in a few days. The information here helped a lot when picking a FH this time. I researched FH care when I bought the last one, but I didn’t realize how important choosing a quality FH was. I found someone to buy this guy and I think I chose well with the new one ? I’ve been keeping fish for 30 years, but mostly African cichlids and reef tanks, so FH are totally new to me.
